just some thoughts...

So, I have been thinking about all of this "Kony-ness" going around and trying to process the enormity of it all. Here's is what I have come up with:

The sleeping giant has been stirred. That's you and me. It's crazy to me the number, of these millions and millions of people who have made this one video go viral, that had never heard of Joseph Kony until this week. It is very clear that the average American has no clue the atrocities that are going on around the world, every day, on our watch. We wouldn't live the way we do if we truly understood.

So, now that we have seen? Now that we have seen, one tiny little glimpse, one 30 minute video, we rise. We come together and let the whole world know that we will not turn a blind eye, not one more minute. This has gone on long enough.

We do have a voice. We can make a difference. And, as it turns out, you don't have go all the way to Africa, or South America, or China to make it heard. It's right where you are. It's one click, it's as simple as a quiet prayer, it's offering support to those who have been called to the "front lines", not to fight, but to love.

And I guess that's that hardest part, love, because how do you love a monster? I don't know; I said these were thoughts, not solutions. :) But I do know, Kony's head on a silver platter will not solve anything. That's not how this ends. Yes, he needs to be stopped, and yes, he needs to be captured, but with a voice comes responsibility and we have a responsibility for the message that we are sending to the world. To the children, to the lost and the hurting. You can't stop violence with violence.

So, maybe I don't really know what I'm trying to say here. Maybe just the same thing these posts always seem to come right back around to. First, that no matter where you live, or what you do, or who you know, we all can make a difference, in one way or another, and there is power in knowledge. Second, we are all a bunch of dodos, living in a messed up world, and we need Jesus.

So there you go. Go support Kony 2012, tell everyone you know and don't give up in a week, or a month, these little lives deserve more. Give your money to Invisible Children if you choose, 31% giving is a lot more than most people give. Or don't. Make your own posters, 'cover the night', 'paint your town red' whatever it takes. You are part of a movement. Make it count.
